JOB VACANCY - Practice Nurse

We will have a practice nurse position available from Summer 2021 due to the retirement of our lead nurse. We are looking for an enthusiastic and ambitious nurse to step into her shoes. We are a small and happy surgery and our nursing team consists of three nurses, two HCAs and one healthcare practitioner.

Flu Feedback and Progress

"I think you've done a brilliant job", "our surgery are lucky" - Marilyn Nettle (PPG member) about our 2020 flu vaccination programme

Flu vaccination progress so far has been positive and we have reached our targets but we are aware that some over 65's are yet to come for their jab.

Flu Vaccinations 2020 Information

(updated 21st January 2021)

Our vaccination clinics are currently focussed on immunisation against COVID-19.

However, flu vaccination remains available.

If you are entitled to a flu jab and have not yet had one, please call us.

Over 50s are now allowed to have flu jabs.

The flu vaccine is given to people who:

  • are 65 and over (including those who'll be 65 by 31 March 2021)
  • have certain health conditions
  • are pregnant
  • are in a long-stay residential care
  • receive a carer's allowance, or are the main carer for an older or disabled person who may be at risk if you get sick
  • live with someone who's at high risk from coronavirus (on the NHS shielded patient list)
  • frontline health or social care workers

Please phone our receptionists to get booked-in as soon as you can. Remember to say whether you will be on foot or in a car.

Evening and Weekend Appointments

We offer appointments on alternate Saturdays with nurses and doctors and every third Sunday with a doctor. We also have nursing appointments available late on Wednesdays. Face-to-face appointments with doctors remain limited due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. Please ask at reception if you are interested.

Social Prescriber

We have a Social Prescriber working all day Tuesdays. She is able to provide much longer appointments than the doctors and can help to find non-medical ways improve your health and wellbeing.

Internet Pharmacies

We are aware of a growing number of Internet pharmacies that offer to deliver your medication to your door.  Pharmacy2U and Well.co.uk are two such organisations.  You may receive advertisements from these companies in your mail.

They are not endorsed by us (your GP surgery) and they are not NHS organisations, although they do issue medication on NHS prescriptions.  They do not have branches that you can walk in-to, or people that you can speak to face-to-face. If you need medication urgently you will still need to visit a high-street pharmacy or one our dispensaries.

We like our patients to have choice, but we also ask that you continue to support our practice dispensaries and our local pharmacies in order to keep these services available.  If you have difficulty getting out of the house then our practice dispensary and our local pharmacies may be able to deliver medicines to you, please ask.
